Although I have been aware of him and his work for many years, in the last two or so years, I have really gotten a lot out of the teachings of Mr. Neely Fuller, one of the greatest counter racists (I believe that he actually coined that term) that has ever lived, and a treasured elder, though he himself would probably reject that designation. His book, The United Independent Compensatory Codebook, is one of the most useful books on the system of racism/white supremacy that I have ever read, his conversations on the COWS (Context of White Supremacy) radio broadcast were very eye opening for me, and his weekly internet radio broadcast is a weekly “must-listen”. But although I have tremendous respect for his sometimes unconventional views, and at least see the logic in almost all of his views, there are a few that I take slight exception to, at least at this point in my development. One of the major views of his that I take exception to is his assertion that there is only one true race and that is the white race, and that there is only one reason for being a part of any race, and that is to practice racism/white supremacy. As a point connected to this, he also says that Black or “non-white” people should not strive to be a member of a race, but to be a “Universal Man and Woman”, because to be a part of a race is to practice white supremacy. He also says that Black people only consider ourselves as a part of “the black race” because we were told so by the white supremacists, as supposedly before what I like to refer to as the era of white aggression, people referred to as Black/of African descent mostly related as parts of a family or ethnicity (or “tribe”). Again, while I do understand the point of this idea, and I absolutely see the logic and some truth in this assertion, I do think it is a somewhat incomplete way of looking at the situation in real time, and in my view, may be a counter-productive way of looking at the race problem in order to find a permanent solution to end the system of racism/white supremacy.

“I have no desire to take all black people back to Africa; there are blacks who are no good here and will likewise be no good there.” – Marcus Garvey.
One of the most enduring concepts within the scope of revolutionary Black activism, nationalism and Pan-Afrikanism is the idea that some great uniter will come along and get Black people on the same page so that we can fight our eternal enemies side by side with all of our “brothers and sisters”. This idea, while a very pleasant idea, does not line up with the reality of where the entirety of the Black race are mentally, philosophically and spiritually, at this point in time, and perhaps at any point in time in the past or the foreseeable future. This leads me to conclude that this idea is counterproductive to the global liberation of Black/Afrikan people, because it leads some of our people who are serious and sincerely want liberation to sit and wait on other Black people to “get it”, or worse, to try to waste time trying to proselytize people who we consider to be confused, when they may not be at the place to “get it” at this point in time, and may not have the willingness to “get it” at any point anyway. Historically, revolution generally has been brought on by a small courageous segment of people within the affected population. It’s time for our people to come to the realization that not all of our people are going to make it to liberation, so trying to “save” each and every Black people is a waste of time.

In this ongoing battle against the system of racism/white supremacy, it is very important to use any and every avenue possible to find solutions to what I refer to as the world’s greatest problem. Consequently, whenever we mentally engage with any new idea, we should always measure its relevance to ending the problem. Neely Fuller Jr. often says that “white supremacists will go to the bottom of the ocean to study a grain of sand if they think that it will be effective and constructive toward their goal of maintaining and refining racism/white supremacy”. It would be naive to not admit that the dogged persistence of white supremacists and their determination to use whatever means that they can find to keep their foot on the throats of all non-white people, with special malice toward Black people, is what has made the system of racism/white supremacy the all-encompassing, all consuming force that it is. I recently re-read Harriet Washington’s phenomenal book Medical Apartheid: The Dark History of Medical Experimentation on Black Americans from Colonial Times to the Present, and there is a section of the book that fascinated me. The book itself is full of incredible information exposing the ways in which whites have maliciously used the medical and science fields as a means for exploitation, as well as a way to further their genocidal aims for Black people. Toward the end of the book, there is a section on how whites have used experimental research in order to wage biological and chemical warfare against Black people.

It has been very well documented that the 1960’s was one of the most tumultuous times in Black American History. After centuries of white supremacist terrorism and abuse, the 1960’s was a time in which Black people collectively decided that “enough is enough”, and openly rebelled in many major cities throughout Amerikkka. As a result of the numerous riots in Los Angeles, Chicago, Newark, NJ and Detroit among other places, then-President Lyndon B. Johnson commissioned a report on those riots in 1968, with the commission chaired by then-Illinois Governor Otto Kerner, to find out why these riots were happening, and how they can be prevented in the future. The Kerner commission then produced a 426 page document, which essentially was a scathing indictment of the horrific conditions that Black people in America suffered under the system of racism/white supremacy. It cited unequal and unjust conditions in which Black people being subjected to vicious and often violent discrimination, denied employment opportunities, saddled with inadequate educational opportunities, poor housing, and being victimized by general, overall white supremacy as the main culprits for this civil unrest and rebellion. President Johnson, suspected racist/white supremacist, apparently did not receive the answers that he wished for, because he rejected the findings of the report, and did absolutely nothing that was suggested in the report to fix the conditions of the Black areas.
